Hopefully this will be rolled out to the console versions of the game to allow everyone to speed up their day one downloads. There has been no hint if miHoYo plans to allow pre-installation for PlayStation users. PC players will also have to update the launcher by clicking the "Game Pre-Installation" next to the "Launch" button. There will also be a "Pre-Install Resource Package" on the loading screen for PC players. PC players will have to go through the game to update it by heading to the Paimon Menu, then Settings, Other, and Pre-Install Resource Package. Android users can follow the directions in the app or update the game from the Google Play menu. In order to download the pre-installation update for Genshin Impact, mobile players on iOS will have to enter the App Store and press the Update button. The amount of time that it will shorten the download will depend greatly on individual download speeds and connection strength, but anything that makes a download a little bit faster can help. Mobile users will not be able to play while the pre-installation is happening, but PC users can download the pre-update in the background while playing. Players will be able to access some of the assets for the 2.1 update through the menu of both the mobile and the PC versions, giving those who want to access the update as quickly as possible a way to make day 1 downloading a little faster. Update 2.1 will be available for Genshin Impact's open world starting August 30th, 2021 at 11:00 (UTC+8), which is 7AM in Eastern Standard Time.
